About us and the role
Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking to appoint a diligent and proactive individual to the position of Cover Manager. The successful post holder will manage cover for day-to-day, short-term and long-term absences for teaching and support staff, minimising disruption to the effective running of the school.

This role is central to the smooth operation of the school day. It is important that the post holder is confident in the use of IT and school management information systems; experience of Arbor would be advantageous, though training will be provided. You will also need to be confident providing classroom supervision when required as part of the role.
The post holder will line manage the Cover Supervisor team and liaise with external supply agencies, maintaining accurate absence records and producing regular reports for the Senior Leadership Team.
What will you do?
• Plan, coordinate and arrange daily cover for all absent staff, ensuring that all lessons and duties are appropriately covered each day.
• Review and improve the effectiveness of cover management systems on an ongoing basis to increase efficiency and support safeguarding.
• Build effective professional relationships across the school community.
• Provide classroom supervision in the absence of a teacher, implementing lesson plans left by the absent member of staff.
